How to defeat Crystal Mine?

I've scouted a few and they all have 1K-3K troops. A rather formidable number!

Yep, they can be very difficult to take over. I think you need around that number of troops (I have never taken over one myself) but I think you should be fairly safe if you overestimate. Once a union takes one over for the first time, it may or may not be easier to take over. It just depends on the troops that they leave there to defend it.
